Le <em>Dictionnaire portatif de peinture<\/em> de Dom Antoine-Joseph Pernety par exemple, publi\u00e9 \u00e0 Paris en 1757, conseille d\u2019appliquer tout d\u2019abord sur la toile une couche d\u2019appr\u00eat \u00e0 l\u2019huile rouge-brun, puis un second appr\u00eat gris, toujours \u00e0 l\u2019huile, compos\u00e9 de c\u00e9ruse et d\u2019un peu de noir de fum\u00e9e. Les peintres ont l\u2019habitude de r\u00e9aliser les tons verts en m\u00e9langeant du jaune et du bleu, mais le pigment naturel jaune utilis\u00e9 jusqu\u2019au XIX<sup>e<\/sup> si\u00e8cle n\u2019\u00e9tait pas r\u00e9sistant \u00e0 la lumi\u00e8re et avait donc tendance \u00e0 se d\u00e9colorer avec le temps. Avec pour r\u00e9sultat que, sur nombre de tableaux anciens, les feuillages ont aujourd\u2019hui une teinte bleu\u00e2tre ou brun\u00e2tre.
