Description

The elements of this stage set-like production are purpose-free forms, even if they do resemble natural objects, masks, parts of costumes, or tools. The Greek word “catharsis” means purification and is also used in drama theory: by identifying with the hero, the spectator experiences emotional purification — according to Gotthold Ephraim Lessing. The installation enables the perception of allusions, openings, surfaces, fragility, and a play with associations that is freed from unambiguity. Broder was inspired, among other things, by the collections of the Musée de l’Homme (Museum of Humankind) in Paris.
