Accessibility
At the invitation of ZKM | Center for Art and Media, the exhibition “KunsthalleKarlsruhe@ZKM” presents the highlights of the Kunsthalle’s collection. When the ZKM was converted from a former ammunition factory into a cultural institution, great emphasis was placed on accessibility so that everyone can visit the museum.
The main building with the foyer, the entrances to the atriums 1+2 and 8+9, the cloakroom, the museum shop, the media theatre, the lecture hall and the restaurant are all accessible at ground level.
The exhibition space of the Kunsthalle is located on the 1st floor of the atriums 1+2 and is accessible by lift.
At all points inside the ZKM, the doors offer you enough space to pass through even with a wheelchair; steps and landings are levelled out. The doors of the main entrance on Brauerstrasse can be opened automatically using special switches. The entrance on Lorenzstrasse has an automatic sliding door with a motion detector.
There are three designated parking spaces for people with disabilities by the entrance on Lorenzstrasse and two in the underground car park. These two are located directly next to the turn-off to the car parks towards Südweststadt. There is a lift from the underground car park directly to the main building of the ZKM.
All levels of the museums are easily accessible via passenger lifts, as is the access to the library, the media lounge and the Cube.
In the museums and the foyer, there are special toilets equipped with alarm systems for people with disabilities.
If you need a wheelchair, please contact the staff at the information desk in the foyer of the ZKM. Wheelchairs can be borrowed for your visit. Please book these before your visit at: info@zkm.de or +49 (0)721 81000

Accessibility
The Kunsthalle’s buildings are historical, and therefore, present certain obstacles for mobility-impaired people. We have come up with solutions to help you get round these constraints and are constantly striving to make further improvements, so that people with special requirements feel comfortable during their stay.
We are glad to take special preparations in advance of your visit. Please get in touch with the Information Service via E-mail or by calling 0721 926 33 70.
