Variety Dancer

For Expressionist artists, dance was of particular interest as a physically direct expression of feelings. Kirchner, co-founder of the artists’ association “Brücke” (Bridge), translates the expressive power of this art form into “loud” colours and a dynamic composition and design: moved into the left-hand part of the picture, the young woman in a green and yellow floral dress dances on a stage dominated by orange in front of a backdrop in which red, yellow, blue, and green meet.
