Graphic Stories
The main building of the Kunsthalle Karlsruhe is closed for the coming years due to renovation work.
In the meantime, exhibitions are taking place at the ZKM | Center for Art and Media, the Orangerie, and the Junge Kunsthalle.
L’exposition Graphic Stories invite à redécouvrir le monde à travers des récits dessinés.
In the Graphic Stories exhibition at the Junge Kunsthalle, works by illustrators and artists are presented that tell through image and text what moves them personally, politically, and socially. Graphic novels are an accessible medium that makes complex topics understandable and tangible. Biographical references and personal perspectives are often the starting point. The result is a wide range of often emotional stories that address large and difficult-to-grasp questions in different drawing styles.
Graphic Stories enters into dialogue with the special exhibition Nicolas Daubanes. Le feu intérieur in the Orangerie. While the latter examines structures of power, oppression, and resistance in a historical context, Graphic Stories extends these questions on a personal level. The selected works convey the “inner fire” and show how political and social structures shape biographies, relationships, and self-images. Central themes include family, identity, and the body, as well as economic inequality, ecological crises, memory culture, and the desire for justice and participation.
