„Orient“
It is critical to understand that the term „Orient” does not correspond to any specific culture. Although the term “oriental” is derived from “Orient”, it remains imprecise and is often used to portray people and cultures as “different” and foreign. For example, people who are ascribed the characteristics “southern and oriental appearance” are often criminalized or sexualized as “exotic enticers”. Such generalizations deny the diversity of the geographical regions and their populations and lead to the exclusion of those labeled in this way.
